You may have read in the press that products bearing the royal coat of arms on the current Royal Warrant are legally obliged to remove it following the death of Queen Elizabeth II and apply for a new warrant. Household brand names such as Cadbury, Coca-Cola, Land Rover, Barbour, Clarins, Molton Brown and Mappin & Webb will have up to two years to phase out products bearing the royal coat of arms.

Ordinarily, around 30 Royal Warrants are granted each year, and the same number are withdrawn but there are currently an estimated 800 companies who must remove their Royal Warrant, many of whom will want to make this change quickly, out of respect for the Royal Family but also to not appear out of date to their consumers.

Over-stickering for label changes is perfectly acceptable in the UK, as long as the label remains compliant with food or product information laws. 24-7 Steller Packing has worked with hundreds of organisations to relabel or over-label products to ensure they are fit for purpose.

For example, the recent Brexit labelling legislation for the Beauty Industry required that each item has a ‘UK-based name and address of the responsible person’ label. Natasha’s Law has made it illegal not to list full ingredient lists and allergen labelling on foods pre-packaged for direct sale. On 1 January 2024, all goods imported to the UK from the EU of animal origin will also have specific labels identifying the source of produce.
